1.How thick should granite be?

Granite countertops typically come in thicknesses of 2 centimeters, or 3/4 inch, and 3 centimeters, or 1 1/4 inches, but as long as the countertop is installed properly, the durability of both thicknesses is the same.

2.Is all granite the same quality?

Granite may be the top choice in countertop materials because of its durability and beauty, but it is not all the same. Not only is there a huge difference between the different types of granite, but also there is tremendous variance between the individual slabs of each type of granite.

3.Why is marble not good for kitchens?

Concerns about Marble

The first concern is the porous nature of marble. It's more porous than granite, so it more readily absorbs liquids. That means that oil, wine, juice and other spills penetrate deeper into the stone very quickly, and they are hard, if not impossible, to get out.
